her trip to our Nation’s Capital a great deal and she would like to share with
you what she thinks are the places you should check out while in D.C.
·
Mount Vernon.
One of the first places
that Diana Hayden of Greenwich,
CT was able to visit is the
500-acre estate of George Washington. Mount
Vernon is a beautiful place to visit if only for the
nature alone. However, you also get to explore the 14-room mansion where our
first president once resided.
·
The Smithsonian. Diana Hayden of Greenwich, CT
says that you absolutely must visit the museums. The best place to start is by
going to the Smithsonian Institution. Here, you will be able see exhibits about
art, science, and more! You will also be able to pick up brochures for the
other museums in Washington,
D.C.
·
Monuments and Memorials. Of course, you will have to visit the
incredible monuments and memorials. Diana Hayden of Greenwich, CT
says these are breathtaking and educational. Try to catch them at night, as it
will be cooler. Additionally, they look even more beautiful when they are lit
up.
·
Houses of Government. Care to learn about how our government works
first hand? Diana Hayden of Greenwich,
CT advises that you take in the
sights at the U.S. Capitol Building, the White House, and the U.S. Supreme
Court. Taking a tour through these houses will educate you in the ways that our
government functions.
·
Georgetown. Another great place to visit is Georgetown. It is a
waterfront with tons of shops and restaurants. Diana Hayden of Greenwich, CT
says it is also full of educational tours since it is an historic area.
